LG 24GN600-B Ultragear Review: Budget 1080p Gaming Monitor

As 2022 progressed, video gaming became more and more popular. With the release of new consoles and games, people were spending more time than ever inside virtual worlds. It was only natural that this led to a demand for specialized equipment, and so gaming monitors began to surface on the market. Manufacturers of gaming monitors found themselves in a race to the top. In order to stay ahead of the competition, they began releasing new and innovative products that would appeal to gamers around the world.

One manufacturer that has been at the forefront of this race is LG. LG makes some of the best TVs in the market. And with its UltraGear series, they bring their quality to gaming monitors as well. The LG 24GN600-B Ultragear is a great example of that.

So, what makes this monitor so special? In this article, we will take a closer look at the features of the LG 24GN600-B Ultragear to find out.

Size, Resolution, Aspect Ratio

The LG 24GN600-B Ultragear is a 23.8-inch (60.4cm) monitor with a resolution of 1920x1080p. It’s a relatively standard size and resolution for a monitor, but the aspect ratio is worth mentioning. The 16:9 aspect ratio is the standard widescreen format, and it’s the most commonly used aspect ratio for monitors. This is because it allows for the display of more image information, making it perfect for watching movies or gaming.

Gaming Features

LG 24GN600-B Ultragear Features

IPS Panel & Response Time

The LG 24GN600-B Ultragear features an IPS panel, which is a type of LCD display technology that offers a number of advantages over other types of panels. One of the biggest benefits of an IPS panel is that it offers superior color reproduction. This means that colors will look more accurate and vibrant on an IPS display. In addition, IPS panels have better viewing angles than other types of LCD panels. This means that you’ll be able to see the screen clearly from different angles, without the colors washing out or looking distorted.

IPS panels are slowly becoming more popular in the monitor market due to the fact that they offer better image quality than TN panels. All of these factors combined make for a much better gaming experience. Also, I like the fact that LG manages to keep the response time at an impressive 1 ms, despite having an IPS panel. This is great for gamers who want to avoid any lag or motion blur. This means that you can enjoy the benefits of IPS without sacrificing speed. Whether you’re watching a movie or playing a game, the LG 24GN600-B Ultragear is sure to deliver an immersive experience.

Refresh Rate

Moving on with gamers’ favorite monitor feature, the LG 24GN600-B includes a 144 Hz refresh rate. This means that the monitor can display up to 144 frames per second. This is important for two reasons. First, it means that you will see less motion blur and screen tearing when gaming. Second, a high refresh rate is important for reducing input lag. Input lag is the amount of time that it takes for the monitor to display a new image after you’ve input a command. A high refresh rate will help to reduce this delay, making your gaming experience smoother and more responsive. Though it’s not the fastest refresh rate on the market, it’s still a big improvement over 60hz monitors.

For a price around $190 – $250, it’s rare to see a monitor with a combination of 1ms response time and 144Hz refresh rate. So, in my opinion, it’s a great choice for those who are looking for a budget-friendly gaming monitor that doesn’t compromise on essential gaming features.

FreeSync Premium Technology

FreeSync for this price point is great. I see that as a pro at all. It’s great to see that LG is including this technology in their budget monitors, as it can really improve the gaming experience. If you’re not familiar with FreeSync, it’s a technology that was developed by AMD to help eliminate screen tearing and input lag. It does this by synchronizing the refresh rate of the monitor with the frame rate of the graphics card. This means that you won’t have to deal with any choppy gameplay or image distortion.

Monitor Image Quality

HDR 10 Technology

The LG 24GN600-B Ultragear also supports HDR 10, which is a new standard for high dynamic range video. This means that you’ll be able to enjoy brighter whites, darker blacks, and more accurate colors. The HDR effect is also adjustable, so you can find the perfect level of brightness and contrast for your needs. Although HDR 10 is still in its early stages, it’s not as good as Dolby Vision. However, it’s nice to see that LG is starting to support the new standard, and I’m sure that it will only get better over time.

Brightness

One of the best features of this monitor is its brightness. The minimum brightness is 240 cd/m² and the typical brightness is 300 cd/m². This makes it perfect for use in any environment, from a dimly lit room to a bright office. The high brightness levels also make it easy to read text on the screen, even when you’re standing far away from the monitor. In my experience, I found that the brightness level was more than enough for my needs.

Minimum and Maximum Color Gamut

In addition to the HDR 10 support, the LG 24GN600-B Ultragear also has a minimum color gamut is 97% sRGB, which is great for those who want to stick with the standard colors. The maximum color gamut is 99% sRGB, which means that the monitor can display a wider range of colors. This is important for those who want to create or view photos or videos in their full-color glory.

Color Calibration

The LG 24GN600-B Ultragear also comes with color calibration, which is a great feature for those who want to ensure that the colors on their screen are accurate. This means that you can adjust the brightness, contrast, and color settings to match your preferences. For this monitor, I found that the color calibration was spot-on, and I didn’t have to make any adjustments after setting it up.

Other Features

The LG 24GN600-B Ultragear comes with a few other features that are worth mentioning. Flicker safe helps to reduce eye fatigue by regulating the brightness of the screen. A Black Stabilizer improves visibility in dark scenes, and Crosshair allows you to overlay a grid on the screen for more accurate aiming in FPS games.

Design and Ergonomics

LG 24GN600-B Ultragear Design and Ergonomics

The LG 24GN600-B Ultragear is a sleek and attractive monitor that is sure to turn heads. Its virtually borderless design gives it a modern look, and the slim bezels make it seem even more sleek and stylish. The eye-catching design is not only pleasing to the eye, but it is also functional, as the slim bezels help to reduce distractions while you are working or playing games.

In terms of ergonomics, the LG 24GN600-B Ultragear is not very good. It only has a tilt adjustment, which means that you won’t be able to adjust the height or angle of the screen. This can be a bit of a problem if you want to find the perfect viewing position for yourself. Additionally, the monitor does not have a VESA mount, so you won’t be able to attach it to a wall or monitor arm.

If this is a big issue for you, we suggest getting a VESA mount adapter. This will allow you to attach the monitor to a VESA mount, which will give you more flexibility with regard to the angle and height of the screen.

However, that doesn’t take away from the fact that it is a great monitor with a ton of features. The HDR 10 support, high refresh rate, low response time, color calibration, and stylish design are all great features that make this monitor stand out from the competition.
